Belgian Race Pigeons

bred by Louis Van den Eynde

  About us
When Louis Van den Eynde ended his football career in 1971, he decided to focus completely on race pigeons. He bought 10 pigeons from Houben of Itegem and 1 hen from Tournier of Lommel and he started breeding. At first he mainly played on Noyon (180km).

Considering the big success, Louis tried to play on greater distances, up to 330km (Dourdan). And his pigeons scored very well, also on these flights.

Some years later, Janssen Arendonk pigeons, that he bought from Jan Gillyns and some pigeons he bought directly from Janssen were added to the colony. These pigeons were descendents of the famous Janssen lines" Oude Lichten", "Den Bangen" and "Korte Witoger". Via Stoces (of Witberg) some more Janssen pigeons came to Brussegem.

From the "Den Bangen" line, Louis bred "De Favori", a pigeon which name matched it's performances (The Favorite). The pigeon obtained excellent results on Noyon and Dourdan, 6 years in a row! It was also "provinciale Asduif" twice.

In '86 Louis bought pigeons from Lou Wouters, Maurits Voets and Schellens via August Christiaans. From these, the successful "Swing" line was breed.

Through the years, more and more attention was put to the pigeons' perfect condition. The aims for results also became higher. In 1993 Louis decided to try his luck on the heavy semi-fond (up to 600km). His success came shortly after. Even in the first year he won 1st prize Semi-National Chateauroux for yearlings.

In '96 he bought a hen from De Schepper/De Temmerman, race De Ladder/Van den Abeele, which is very successful for breeding even today. To get even more "long distance" blood in the colony, Louis and Cl. De Mesmaecker bought pigeons from Roger Florizoone (of Nieuwpoort). Roger Florizoone is a heavy fondplayer who won 1st prize National on Barcelona.

And further, pigeons were regurarly exchanged with friends Cl. de Mesmaeker and Eric Limbourg. Doing so Louis always continues to improve his pigeons.
